I’m a native Nashvillian and current Franklin resident, proud father of five (ages 25, 23, 20, 18, and 15), and have been married to my high school sweetheart, Emily, for 32 years. I’ve spent my entire professional life in investment management, including 19 years with Capital Group and currently a Senior Vice President with Capital Group Private Client Services.
Outside of my family and my career, I’m deeply committed to supporting community initiatives that promote dignity, hope, and healing. As the child of a single mother, I believe every woman deserves the opportunity to reclaim her life and rediscover her worth—with dignity. Although my personal connection to Mending Hearts’ mission has been more peripheral, I’ve come to understand, through the stories and experiences of others, just how deeply personal and transformative the work truly is. I’ve witnessed the resilience it takes to rise from brokenness, and I’m honored to walk alongside those who are doing that courageous work.

Shannon Martin is a community volunteer living in Nashville, TN.

I’m an East Nashville resident and lived in Nashville for over 15 years, proud dog mom of Nessie the Newfypoo. I’ve spent most of my professional career advising companies all over the world in finance and accounting. More recently I worked in financial reporting at a behavioral healthcare company and currently working in finance and accounting at a clinical research company.
After returning to East Nashville from Europe over five years ago, I developed a deeper appreciation for the power of community in transforming lives. Having always benefited from a strong network of family and friends, I’m passionate about ensuring that same sense of connection is available to the women Mending Hearts serves. As a board member, I am honored to help guide and strengthen the organization’s mission—providing strategic support, building community partnerships, and advocating for the resources that make recovery and healing possible. Mending Hearts’ dedication to restoring hope and opportunity resonates deeply with me, and I’m committed to fostering its impact in our community.

What started as an undergraduate journey from Richmond, Virginia to Vanderbilt University turned into a lifelong home in Nashville. My husband and I are raising our two children here in a community that has shaped both my personal and professional life. I am a professor in the Department of Human and Organizational Development at Vanderbilt, where I teach courses that bring students and community members together to learn from one another and build sustainable collaborations that address complex social and organizational challenges.
It was through this work that I first met Trina Frierson, and I immediately knew that Mending Hearts was something truly special. The organization’s mission—to walk alongside women as they restore their lives from addiction through long-term, supportive care—deeply resonated with me. I have long believed that healing and growth begin in relationships rooted in trust, safety, and dignity. Mending Hearts embodies this belief every day, offering hope and transformation in a way that is both powerful and deeply human.

Elise Cambournac is a leadership advisor, speaker, and two-time CEO with more than 25 years of experience helping organizations navigate growth, transformation, and innovation. She is the founder of The Catalyst Multiplier, where she advises CEOs and executive teams on aligning leadership, culture, and strategy so organizations can scale with clarity and accountability. Through executive advisory, leadership development programs, and strategic workshops, Elise helps leadership teams strengthen trust, accountability, and collaboration—turning culture into a competitive advantage.
Prior to launching The Catalyst Multiplier, Elise served as CEO of the Greater Nashville Technology Council, where she led a post-pandemic turnaround and helped reposition the organization as a central force in Nashville’s growing technology ecosystem. Earlier in her career, she spent nearly a decade at HCA Healthcare, leading large global technology teams and driving enterprise transformation initiatives.
Elise is passionate about helping leaders build organizations rooted in trust, empathy, and accountability—because when leadership teams align around shared values and clear purpose, they multiply the impact of every strategy they pursue.

Brittany Holman is a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor (LADAC I) who has dedicated her career to helping individuals recover from substance use disorders and rebuild their lives. She currently serves as a Sheriff’s Caseworker II / Treatment Counselor with the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office, providing substance use treatment and recovery services to incarcerated individuals who struggle with substance use and co-occurring disorders.
An alumna of the Mending Hearts program, Brittany also spent six and a half years working alongside women at Mending Hearts as they navigated recovery, healing, and long-term transformation. Her experience in both residential treatment and the criminal justice system gives her firsthand understanding of the challenges individuals face in overcoming addiction, trauma, and incarceration—and a deep belief that recovery is possible when people are met with compassion, connection, and evidence-based care.
Serving on the Mending Hearts Board is a full circle moment for Brittany. She is passionate about advocating for women in recovery, expanding access to quality treatment, and ensuring that every woman who walks through the doors of Mending Hearts has the opportunity to find hope, healing, and a new beginning.

Krissy Manzano is the CEO and Co-Founder of Blueprint Expansion, a GTM recruiting firm that helps early-stage and high-growth companies hire top sales, marketing, and customer success talent. Blueprint’s process-driven approach builds teams that drive revenue growth and market leadership, with a core belief that hiring should be predictable and scalable.
With over 15 years of leadership experience, Krissy has excelled both as an operator – driving one organization’s revenue from $500K to over $60M in a single year — and as the founder of a premier recruiting firm serving some of the fastest-growing companies in tech. Her earlier career includes leading high-performing SaaS sales teams at Motive, ServiceSource, and SiteHawk. As a thought leader in AI-driven recruiting, she shares insights on how technology can transform hiring while keeping people at the center.
The Mending Hearts mission is deeply meaningful to me because it centers women who are so often overlooked. Women who are rebuilding their lives after trauma, addiction, and incarceration. As someone who speaks often about the challenges working women face, I know how easy it is for society to put women in boxes, to judge their pasts, or to underestimate their potential. I believe in second chances. I believe in the power of community, opportunity, and dignity. Mending Hearts is about healing, yes. But it’s also about hope, empowerment, and giving women the tools and support they need to move forward. That’s the kind of mission I want to stand behind.

My home is in West Nashville with my husband, daughter and two dogs. We moved here in 2021 and immediately felt at home, welcomed by what I can only describe as an awareness of what connects us all to one another.

My heart-centered leadership and studies in business and health behavior change led me to a vocation in healthcare and marketing. And my passion for women’s wellbeing and empowerment led me to board service here at Mending Hearts – a special place of hope and healing in Nashville. Throughout my life I’ve been the type of person who leaned in when others leaned out. Someone who sees the best for the future and works to achieve it. I’m honored to work together with incredible community leaders, bringing my heart, reverence, and abilities to serve the Mending Hearts mission.

Kayla brings over a decade of experience in organic social media marketing. She began her career in the music industry, where she spent 10 years honing her skills in marketing and brand development. A chance opportunity to manage social media quickly turned into a passion, leading her to work with freelance clients and eventually launch her own social media marketing business. Today, she specializes in helping startups and small businesses build community and brand awareness online.
Kayla joined the Mending Hearts board because the organization’s mission is deeply personal to her. With family members who have struggled with addiction, she was moved by the work Mending Hearts does to support and empower women in recovery, and felt compelled to contribute her time and talents to the cause.
She’s known for her creative thinking, strategic approach, and deep understanding of how to connect with audiences authentically.

As a board member, I bring deep experience in investment banking, finance, research, entrepreneurship and mentorship. During my time as Entrepreneur in Residence at the Nashville Entrepreneur Center, and as a mentor at Jumpstart Foundry, I worked closely with alumni of both accelerators and growth-stage start up companies, providing advisory engagement, and assistance in raising capital as they scaled their ventures. As founder of Mentor Capital, LLC investing in startup companies equips me to advise on strategy, financial planning, and capital access.

My professional background included senior leadership roles at ABN AMRO Bank in Chicago, Amsterdam, London and New York focused on international investment banking and fixed income research. I have been deeply involved with Mending Hearts for 12 years as a volunteer, donor, board member and previous board chair. Through those years, I have had the privilege to interact and watch firsthand the transformation of our clients during their stay at Mending Hearts. Seeing a woman who had lost everything due to her addiction – family, job, home and self worth grow within the program to learn to embrace a life of sobriety, regain her self confidence, reconnect with her family and leave with a job as she reintegrates into society is truly miraculous to watch.

I’m a transplant from the central California coast by way of Michigan, Indiana, and Washington DC. Now retired, I spent my career with HUD and then MDHA In community development and housing (including disaster housing before FEMA) and did a lot of on-the-job learning about low-income housing and community investment tax credits, tax-increment financing, bonds, and other forms of housing finance (quite a stretch for a Sociology major).
Many, many years ago, I had a friend and co-worker get into drug trouble and sent to jail. She introduced me to a few fellow inmates (and they introduced me to still others) and I became deeply acquainted with their needs and challenges. One day while I was paying someone’s rent at Mending Hearts, Trina invited me to come on their Board. I’ve watched the organization blossom from the single family house in Hope Gardens to a huge footprint in west Nashville and now its launch into Inglewood—all reaching out to an overwhelming need.
